/Welcome to Rouen!

Claude Monet, the most celebrated of impressionist painters, made of the Rouen cathedral, his favourite muse. It’s easy to see why, its majestic beauty soars into the sky with France’s tallest church spire. And there’s much more to do in Rouen, a charming French city, which offers a perfect blend of the old and the new: industries thrive in the region, given its ideal geographical location that connects it to the rest of the world. Tech parks house world-class institutions of higher education, research and innovation centres, business incubators and several international businesses. Rouen is very student-friendly and we hope you will fall in love with the city.

Accommodation

Student accommodation in France

In France, international students live off-campus, in student residences. Students have access to a wide variety of student-housing options in Rouen (CROUS, Private residences, etc.), which are more affordable than in the bigger cities.

Accommodation assistance at ESIGELEC

New, incoming international students may request for accommodation assistance. Each year, approximately 200 students from abroad benefit from this service and are able to find accommodation in and around the city of Rouen, via ESIGELEC ’s network of student accommodation providers.

Approximately one month before the intake, ESIGELEC will announce the housing options available to international students, via ESIGELEC ONESTOP via email. Detailed information is sent to admitted students on each of the rooms available to help them make their choice. Once their wish list (3 options), the housing is allotted immediately thereafter.

Private accommodation

Students may also opt to find accommodation on their own, in which case ESIGELEC will provide a list of contacts of various service providers. Students will have to follow up on their own and send the accommodation details to ESIGELEC, once confirmed. If you need airport pickup, you will have to email the address of your accommodation to ESIGELEC, we we can arrange the service.

Visa

A visa is an official document that allows the bearer to enter a foreign country legally. The types of visas vary, based on the nature of travel. Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa to enter French territory. You will have to confirm this at the Embassy of France in your country.

If you need a visa:

Students who have been granted admission to a degree awarding programme at ESIGELEC, must apply for a long-stay visa (more than 90 days). Students who have been granted admission to an Exchange programme, of a duration of less than 90 days, you will have to apply for a short-stay visa.

While applying for a visa, it is advisable to make sure your application is complete and provides all the information that the authorities need. Explaining your reasons for choosing France, the institution of higher education and your plans after completion of your studies are standard questions. It is important for you to be as honest and as clear as possible. Rehearsed and contrived answers will not work in your favour.

If you are below 18
