Overview
Our Language Pathway Program, delivered online or on-campus, prepares you to pursue a degree-awarding French-taught program or teaches you survival French if you are applying for an English-taught program at ESIGELEC. The program is designed to make you adept at French for academic purposes, and will prepare you to study in French at ESIGELEC.
This program is best suited for high-school students, who wish to apply for our 5-year Engineering Program. We also encourage students applying for our Master’s Degree Programs to learn French, at least at a beginner level, to make the best of their experiences in France.
The program aims to develop student awareness, knowledge and skills in the use of French as the language of teaching and learning in a university environment. Learning activities will focus on listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. You will learn academic French, in a fun way!

Start Small
-Beginner –
At this level, you understand and know how to use simple and familiar expressions that help you satisfy basic needs (e.g. ordering a coffee or a croissant). You know how to answer simple questions, like – what is your name?, or where do you live?.
Α2
Gain Momentum
-Elementary Level –
In this level, you gain a broader vocabulary in French and can get simple things done. You are definitely ready to order a coffee in France! You understand common sentences that are widely used (e.g. personal information, questions about shopping, or about your immediate environment). You successfully communicate to accomplish simple tasks, converse on familiar topics, or attend to matters of immediate need.
B1
Express Yourself
-Intermediate Level –
In this level, you gain a broader vocabulary in French and can get simple things done. You are definitely ready to order a coffee in France! You understand common sentences that are widely used (e.g. personal information, questions about shopping, or about your immediate environment). You successfully communicate to accomplish simple tasks, converse on familiar topics, or attend to matters of immediate need.
..and remember, if you are admitted to our degree programs, the first three weeks will be dedicated to intensive French language classes, in France. You will soak in the actual setting, as you enjoy French culture and the French academic environment!
